Following its Osaka venue, a solo exhibition featuring work of LA-based street artist Mr. Brainwash opens at Shibuya PARCO from Saturday (February 27, 2021)!
LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL is the first solo exhibition in Japan by the artist Mr. Brainwash and will feature approximately 80 works by the artist. The exhibit will also feature Japan-themed works that Mr. Brainwash has drawn for the occasion (different works from the Osaka exhibition). This exhibition is also PARCO’s first dual-exhibition, taking place at PARCO MUSEUM TOKYO (4F) and GALLERY X (B1F). The B1 exhibition will open on March 3rd (Wednesday).
Street artist and filmmaker.
Real name Thierry Guetta. Born in France, he moved to LA in the 1980s, launching his career as a filmmaker in 2007.
Guetta’s career as a street artist took off in earnest after he was featured in the Banksy film “Exit Through the Gift Shop.”
With residencies and large-scale solo exhibitions at Art Barcel—the world’s largest art fair—album cover production for musicians such as Madonna, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Rick Ross; and collaborations with former first lady Michelle Obama and the soccer player Pele, Guetta moves freely among various fields and breaks contemporary art boundaries.
