The age of Human 3.0 is coming, and we should keep an eye on 31-year-old Max Hodak.
Hodak is an entrepreneur who is an expert in biomedical engineering.
Hodak had previously founded and sold the company MyFit, a service that helps high school students to choose a college that suits them.
At the age of 21, he launched Transcriptic with investment from Google’s venture capital fund. Transcriptic is a venture company that utilizes automatic robots to remotely and inexpensively generate and process data for new drugs on the cloud, a process that typically takes an average of 12 years.
Thanks to this company, it is now possible to produce test results in just a few days.
Hodak subsequently co-founded Neuralink with Elon Musk, a company that develops brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) that connect computer-based systems to the human brain.
In 2020, Neuralink announced a fascinating project that will use surgical robots to implant threads that are thinner than the width of a human hair into the brain to stream music directly into the brain without the use of headphones.
Its video of a monkey playing Pong has also attracted significant attention.
A chip had been embedded into the monkey six weeks before, which improved its ability to replicate the desired movements.
While this experiment is unnerving to watch in some ways, it is an important study that explores the potential of how people who are paralyzed in all four limbs may acquire the ability to move their prosthetic arms and legs as they wish.
Hodak has even claimed that in 15 years, it would be possible for us to create a real dinosaur from dinosaur DNA, just like in the movie Jurassic Park.
This new approach would not only save endangered species but also preserve our biodiversity by resurrecting extinct species.
It is amazing to see how these SF-like ideas are on the brink of becoming reality.
By the way, this is a photo of the Mark Manders exhibition currently being held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo. Don’t miss it!
