Moeko Maeda -What is your Balance? – March 31st, 2020 / Speedy Gallery DTLA
What is your balance ?
Inhale / Exhale
Light / Shadow
ike the ebb and flow of the tide, we spend our days consciously and unconsciously maintaining a balance between our inner and outer worlds.
As the works on display shift from white to black and black to white, we hope that everyone will turn their attention inward and connect to their own comfortable balance. To inner harmony and then to outer harmony.
Salted painting:
Since ancient times, salt has been considered sacred in Japan, not only as a seasoning, and has been used in ceremonies to purify the body, mind, and spirit, as well as the place. Salt has purified and healed me from my childhood to the present, and I have come to respect and appreciate the wisdom of our ancestors and salt, naturally fusing salt and painting. Salted painting breathes just like us.
Production Process:
– Write letters and words that come to your consciousness.
(May the energy that comes from the letters become the bones and foundation)
– Paint the chakra colors and go.
(May the chakra energy circulate and emit energy)
– Growing salt crystals on the painting as the final process.
(May it cleanse and protect the energy around it)
