Mr. Shii is using blockchain technology to properly expand the art market.

Shii: “In order to get people to use it globally, I think it would be great if blockchain certificates could be used by very famous Japanese artists, such as Yayoi Kusama and Yoshitomo Nara, who are facing forgery problems. The forgery problem is not only a problem for artists, but also for auction houses and secondary market participants around the world, who have a hard time confirming whether a work is genuine or not. It takes a lot of money and time to prove that an artwork is “genuine” or “fake,” no matter which way it is judged. In addition, the number of people who can examine a work is limited, so there are many restrictions, such as “Only a certain number of works can be judged as authentic or fake per month. I have heard that it takes about one year to examine a Picasso. I have also heard that after the artist passed away, the management organization was dissolved and there was no one left to conduct authenticity examinations. In this sense, I would like to sound the alarm that unless all the artworks are registered on the blockchain while there is still a person alive who is capable of authenticating authenticity, no one will be able to prove the authenticity of a forgery when it appears in the world, and the value of the work may decrease because of this.”
