Speedy Farm, Okinawa – Recent News!
Speedy Farms, recent news!
Baobab tea, made from baobab leaves from Farm #1, sold out at “Eat Choc!” Yay!
The gate to Farm #4 is complete! And today the staff is cutting the weeds around the bananas. At first glance, the densely populated area appears to be covered with gorgeous emperor sunflowers, but these are strong enemies that rob the bananas of their nutrients. They are taller than humans and their cut stems are hard and dangerous. They are working to make sure they don’t mistake the buried bananas.
And then, the fifth farm was cleared! It took three days to clear the land by renting a large jumbo. After cutting down the trees and grasses, we gave them to a company that crushes them at a unit price of 20 yen per kilogram. 340,000 yen for four 1.2-ton truck trips, including removal. The fence will be installed tomorrow. We will pick only the amount of Shikwasa that grows wild and use for cooking. Satisfied!
… So, the staff is working in the heat wave, taking lots of water and rest. Thanks!
Lots of awesome plants coming in this week! We’re all ready to go.
