First unveiling of “Lotus Revives,” a wooden door at the Kikibayashi residence, “Hideki Kimura EXHIBITION – Street Art for Adults -” from June 16 (Fri.)! Open to the public for 5 days from the first day.
POLA MUSEUM ANNEX (Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo) will hold “Hideki Kimura EXHIBITION – Street Art for Adults -“, an exhibition by the painter Hideki Kimura, from June 16 (Friday) to July 30 (Sunday), 2023.
This is the first large-scale solo exhibition of Eiki Kimura, a Kyoto-based artist who has used the streets as a venue for his works, such as sliding door paintings in Kachoden, Seirenin Monzeki, and wall paintings at Kansai International Airport. The exhibition will feature more than 50 new works, ranging from a variety of canvases (mainly circular and F20) to tapestry-type works measuring approximately 2 meters in length. In addition, “Lotus Revives,” a woodblock door created in 2005 at the request of actress Kilin Kiki, with whom he had a close friendship, will be borrowed from the Kiki residence and shown to the public for the first time. A new work from the “Lotus Revives” series will also be unveiled.
For the five days following the opening day of the exhibition, Kimura will be showing a pair of folding screen paintings. This is a rare opportunity for visitors to see Kimura’s works, with their dynamic compositions and eye-opening colors, in the making. We are pleased to introduce you to the dynamic world of Eiki Kimura, who has walked with rock music.
