The ceremony was held to pray for the safety of construction workers from the high ground of Hyakuna Beach, where Amamikyo had alighted, while worshipping the sacred island of Hisaka (the birthplace of Okinawa).

I stumbled upon this location by chance in August 2020, never dreaming that a year later construction would begin in earnest.

And it is scheduled to be completed exactly one year later, in August 2022.
