Masterfile is a startup that creates a platform (tools and marketplace) for DRM (copyright protection) technology for NFT works.

NFT is said to use blockchain technology to create one-of-a-kind pieces of digital art, but it does not actually have DRM capabilities. Many people misunderstand this; the NFT market is currently flooded with many self-serving fake NFT works. That’s why these startups are coming out. Masterfile has secured funding for the next 5+ years.

However, I do not think it is competitive per se. There will be countless competitors. I think it’s more the easy UI that appeals to me, like using Adobe.

For example, suppose you have a digital artwork with numerous layers. You can easily mint (NFT-ize) each and every one of them.

The same can be done with comic book pages and video frames. This is probably the most attractive point. There was no tool like this. But Adobe’s new “Behance” service could be a contender.

Furthermore, if they are only concerned with their own marketplace, they will need to spend more on marketing to spread their content.

This means that Masterfile’s future challenge will depend on its ability to develop attractive content using this tool.

I think there is a possibility of collaboration with Speedy Group, which has the largest e-comics production in Japan.
