WIDTH: But nowadays, the importance of words is a bit underestimated…. I still think that “reading” and “knowing words” are essential for communicating things.

For example, I often feel this when I am at events where many children come…. When they are stressed about something, many of them can only say, “I’m annoyed. Why is that “annoying”? I think it takes a certain amount of training to be able to analyze one’s feelings in detail and put them into words. It requires muscular strength.

Human complex emotions are not something that can be understood through a Japanese language test, and even words are not enough to complement them. When we try to communicate something that even words are insufficient to convey, there is a tendency to downplay the subtlety of the message. It’s like using pictograms to cover it up…. That one is like conveying an air, but it is a sign of too much constant “not saying it out loud” and “not going through with it.”
