Director: Shinji Higuchi Comment
I want to be a director.
In response to such a murky and hopeful question.
There is one answer that always comes up and stops me.
You’re not supposed to be a director.
It’s what they call it.
I don’t know what to do. I don’t know if this is the right thing to do.
I tried my best to avoid showing such emotions in the field.
When I cheat, the staff around me is always supportive.
This is good!
That’s good, isn’t it?
I think it’s lovely.
Encouraged by everyone’s words and everyone’s work
I became a director.
I can be a director.
I always think so.
Now, due to infectious diseases, many films have lost their chance to be screened.
It has not been delivered to the audience.
The infection has prevented many films from even being made.
It is floating in the air, unformed.
In the midst of all this, a film was made that would not have been made without the infection.
One more director has joined the team.
It’s hard, it’s painful, and it may not be as good as you think.
But I still can’t stop, I want to make it.
Because it’s fun. Because this is the only place to live.
I’m having trouble articulating these feelings.
You could make it with others who are entangled in the same karma.
It was a gorgeous shooting location that I would never have allowed on my own site.
We are especially excited by the brilliant handiwork of the special equipment team, who are working with us for the first time.
It is like falling into a trap you set yourself.
After all, I want to live in the movies no matter what, and
I want to go to the movies, I want to go to the movies.
NON Comments on her role as a film director
Tension and exuberance living in the film. Is there any other filming so intense and intense? It was fun!
I am always nervous on any job site, but this time I didn’t feel alive until I got there. What kind of crazy shooting was it, me playing the director and the distinguished directors playing the staff? I still think, “What is this? Once filming started, I was having so much fun that I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I am grateful to Director Higuchi.
I made the film “Ribbon” because I wanted to make a film that would help to scoop up some of the feelings that were frayed by the Corona disaster. Not in a role, but in reality.
I can’t wait for you all to see it. Enjoy.
Director Akira Ogata’s comment as a staff member
I had experienced many rain showers on shoots, but this was the first time I had ever been soaked to the skin. The hand holding the breadstick was cold and numb. One more time! Director Higuchi’s voice was relentless. It was quite a tough shoot. But I didn’t mind at all. It is the toughness that makes it interesting. You can’t encounter interesting things if you take it easy. I thought, “Maybe this is what it means to “live in the film”.
Director Katsuro Onoe as Staff Comment
The role I received was “NON-Gumi, Manipulation Club”. What a throwback to the old days! I was aiming for the role of a cameraman. The directors were quick to get me into the role, regardless of my feelings. I can’t lose. The spirit of the acting club has come back to life! I ran. I sprinkled confetti. And my legs cramped up… It’s really hard to “live in the film” (laughs). But there are such wonderful rewards. Thank you, Higuchi! Non-chan, thank you all for your hard work.
Director Isshin Inudo as Staff Comment
I played the role of a cameraman, and for the first time, I rode on a crane and turned 35mm film by myself. I felt like Kazuo Miyagawa.
It was fun. Thank you, Higuchi-san and Non-san.
Director Sunao Katabuchi as Staff Comment
I usually work in animation, and it had been an awfully long time since I had been in a live-action studio, but I had no idea that I would end up playing a staff role for director Nono.
I am sure that Non-chan will continue to be active in various directions in the future, and I will be there to help her whenever she needs it.
Director Kazuya Shiraishi as Staff Comment
What a euphoric time it was! We were able to find things we had dropped or forgotten here and there.
Thanks to this, my body is super light with the best detoxification that renews all the cells in my body.
Now I can live in the movies for a while longer!
Director Masahide Ichii’s comment as a staff member
Because the shooting of his own film was postponed due to Corona, his first onsite appearance in a long time was unexpectedly as a staff member! I strongly felt that one day I would like to create such a passionate scene myself, and once again, movies and scenes are the best! I was very excited. Movies are movies outside the frame, too!
Director Shuichi Okita as Staff Comment
The atmosphere of the shoot, which I had not seen in a long time, was exciting. It is so much fun to be out there. And NON-san is right in front of me.
Non-san’s supervision was both cute and cool. I was allowed to play among many other seniors. Thank you very much for your precious time. It was a lot of fun. I am looking forward to the movie.
Director Yuka Eda’s comment as a staff member
It was a very strange site, with the largest number of directors in the history of the site, all checking their monitors and directing each other in an unusual space. It was a very enjoyable experience. I think it is filled with the feeling of creating something together in harmony. I hope that more and more people who see this will want to make movies.
