Miraculous reunion! Korean contemporary artist Tae Hun-Son Oe Kyung and online
A follow-up to my earlier post!
I have been looking for Tae Hun-Son Oe Kyung, a Korean contemporary artist I met in Paris four years ago in December.

On the day I was supposed to meet her, there was a blah blah blah in the gallery and we lost contact after that.
You would think that in today’s society it would be impossible not to have contact information, but the last time Tae Hong Son Wae Kyung heard that he was going to retreat to Tibet to practice meditation, he was not on any social networking service and did not have an e-mail address.
However, every winter, he remembered Tae Hong Son, and as a gallerist, he felt a strong urge to “somehow find an artist” day by day.
After several searches in Korean, I found only one piece of work featured in a gallery in Seoul that was held in 2017, the same year we last met. However, if nothing appears online after 4 years ago, has he discontinued his artist practice or is he continuing his practice as is? But he didn’t give up!
So I asked my business partner, Seungjun Yang (Seungjun Yang), who is an entrepreneur in Japan, to help me out, and my friend in Seoul went to that gallery and miraculously got Tae Hong Son’s e-mail address from the owner!
And this Zoom meeting came to fruition. She remembered me well and we hit it off again.
We have a Tae Hong Son solo exhibition in Busan next March, and after that, we have decided to hold an exhibition at the Speedy Gallery in Los Angeles. If possible, I would like to visit Busan as well. What a happy turn of events!
After that, Kim Seung Hyuk, my longtime translator in Korea, acted as an intermediary and we communicate daily via Kakao Talk.
I believe that after five years since our first meeting, this project can be realized. Thanks to the great relationship we have with our Korean friends!
