THE BAR by Speedy : Event Matcha Night!
Last night’s [matcha night] was also a great success!
The bar was always full and the bar space was very dense. My friend from junior high and high school, Shinichi Yokoi, also came by and introduced me to some of his friends from Nozawa. Next month, the Nozawa Gin Festival will be held! (June 21)
Thanks to everyone, including Team LEO, artists Viviane & Ryuya, Takashi Minowa’s team, Marin, Daisuke Sakamoto of NewsPicks and friends!
We will continue to have Cuzen Matcha (Kuzen Matcha) and “+ Gin” on the menu, so you can always try them!
Profile of Eijiro Tsukada, who planned and developed
Born in 1975, he graduated from the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Economics in 1998 and joined Suntory Limited as a new graduate.
Since then, he has been engaged in new product development and new business development in the beverage business in Japan and the United States for 21 years. Always questioning “common sense,” he develops products from the customer’s benefit point of view, looking directly at the reality of the user, not the manufacturer’s logic. Representative hit products he has created include “DAKARA,” “Gokuri,” and “Iyemon Tokucha.
In the latter half of his tenure, he was involved in the tea beverage business, including Oolong tea and Iemon tea, where he continued to pursue “delicious tea beverages.” As a result, he realized the limits of what could be achieved with PET bottles, and finally launched an in-house venture, a matcha café business in the United States, which became a big hit.
In January 2019, he left Suntory and founded World Matcha Inc. in the U.S. to further expand opportunities to drink matcha tea around the world. In January 2020, he launched the Cuzen Matcha matcha machine at CES 2020, the world’s largest consumer electronics trade show, where it received the CES 2020 Innovation Awards Honoree despite being exhibited for the first time.
In October 2020, the product will go on sale in the U.S. In July 2021, it will be reimported from the U.S. and go on sale in Japan, making it possible for anyone to enjoy a high-quality matcha drink made with matcha at home.
The product has received seven awards worldwide, including the CES 2020 Innovation Award, Time’s Best Inventions of 2020, the iF Design Award 2021, and the Good Design Award 2021, while Tsukada personally was featured in the Financial Times as “What the What the Steve Jobs of drinks is brewing up next” in the Financial Times.
