THE BAR by Speedy : Art Gallery + Bar

THE BAR by Speedy is more than just a bar. Half of it is a gallery space.
I guess this is where the tables should be placed, but I didn’t want to put the seats behind the counter, so I imagined it would be a proper gallery.
And this is not a large scale like the Speedy Gallery in Los Angeles, but a small exhibit of about 5-10 pieces of art, changing exhibits every 1-2 months. Basically, I plan to exhibit my own collection.
The commemorative first exhibition features the unusual sketches of sculptor Kimio Tsuchiya. Tsuchiya has been invited to many international art fairs for his works made from the scrap wood and ashes of demolished houses.
His theme is “location/memory,” and he creates public art and other sculptures that inscribe the memory of the land and people.
The works in this exhibition are drawings that were given away at the “Uncertain Contours” exhibition held at “un petit Garage” gallery in Ginza at the end of last year.
The original of this drawing is based on the “Inclusion” series, in which various types of natural stones are covered with old glass (mold glass from the demolition of houses). The work expresses the fact that the time inherent in stones is far beyond our imagination. This exhibition at the BAR is an extremely valuable work of art, a drawing of the development of the old glass covering the stones from various angles.
