EV cars won’t stop global warming!

The most notable company in the world today is Tesla Inc. led by Elon Musk.
The closing price of Tesla’s stock on January 8, 2021 was the first time since the company’s listing in 2010 that the stock had rallied 11 consecutive days, and it also broke its all-time high. Market capitalization increased by over 24 trillion yen in 11 days to over 86 trillion yen.
This is the equivalent value of Toyota (approximately 26 trillion yen), the largest market capitalization company in Japan, for the 11-day increase alone.
Comparing the capabilities of Tesla and Toyota, in terms of sales (2019), Tesla has about 360,000 units compared to Toyota’s 10.74 million units. The number of sales is one-thirtieth, yet the market capitalization is about three times higher.
Tesla’s high reputation is due to nothing more than the charisma and vision of Elon Musk. This means that the stock market and the human race are looking forward to the appeal of Musk, who is trying to realize a series of science fiction-like ideas, such as a plan to move to Mars, an overwhelming reduction in travel time by rocket, and a highway using underground tunnels.
However, while the widespread use of EVs may at first glance appear to be environmentally friendly, it is the “electricity” that is the source of the EVs that is being used. To produce this electricity, a conventional thermal power source would have to run 200,000 km to reach the current level of zero. And even if all renewable energy was used, it would still have to run 50,000 km. The average distance a car is currently used is about 100,000 km. So the life of a lithium battery in an EV car is also about 100,000 km. If the power source were all renewable energy, the CO2 emissions would be reduced by about half. But it will be a long time before that happens.
Let’s be aware that EV promotion does not = CO2 reduction.
Even more problematic is virtual currency. Virtual currency is created by mining, which consumes an extraordinary amount of electricity. The widespread use of Bitcoin will result in “dangerous levels of power consumption on the planet,” Bill Gehry Itz warns.
Bitcoin consumes more electricity per transaction than any other method known to mankind.” It has no positive impact on the climate.” (Bill Gates interview in the New York Times)
Humanity will have to meet the enormous demand for electricity that will be generated in the future, which is incomparably greater than in the past. We will never be able to prevent global warming by simply setting the current level at 100 and reducing carbon power generation by 30%.
Is that why? Recently Elon Musk changed his title from CEO to King. Maybe this is a stepping stone to let EVs and the spread of virtual currency destroy the earth and send mankind to Mars. w
