The delivery of Okinawa’s wonderful substandard vegetables has begun.

I’m glad you guys got so many responses and so am I!

For delivery, the “sanguehay” (actually lemon grass), an amulet used to ward off evil spirits when carrying Okinawan food, was also well received.

The day after the delivery, everyone enjoyed the Okinawan land with their own cooking style.

Winter melon (Tougan), Okra, Dragon fruit, Island cucumber, Shikwasa, Lemongrass, Baby leaf, Mugwort (hooch bar), Butterfly pea, etc.

In the future, we would like to establish a system to send these on a regular basis.

There is a “denen Okinawa” in the neighborhood of Speedy Farm (Nanjo, Okinawa).

In talking with Ms. Yoko Misawa, the owner, I came to understand that “substandard” produce is the best produce. Generally, “off-spec” vegetables and fruits are considered to be damaged or outdated, but this is not necessarily the case.

The meaning of “out of specification” is merely a self-imposed rule set by the major distributors, who will classify cucumbers that do not meet the 1 cm standard as “out of specification. Therefore, “out of specification” is not a third-rate product, but the best first-class product grown freely and naturally by farmers.

We are pleased to present to you the “substandard” taste that Mr. Misawa has nurtured together with the ambitious farmers in Okinawa. We look forward to your feedback on whether we can continue to sell these products in the future.
