On February 3, at an extraordinary meeting of the Japanese Olympic Committee (JOC) Board of Trustees, President Yoshiro Mori said, “Women talk too long in meetings, so meetings with too many women take too long.” The world was ablaze.

In this post, I’m going to leave to the side any talk of Chairman Mori’s dignity or his impending resignation.

I was genuinely curious as to whether women or men talk more. Men are generally less eloquent and are often outspoken by women, and my firsthand experience tells me that women are more talkative. I know it’s a bit of a stretch ゙ but what’s the real story?
