You can always uptate yourself to the best version of yourself… exercise!

I’ve been in sales since I was young.

I was in the business of selling movies to local stations. At the time there was a local airline called JAS, and I flew on it 2-3 times a week. I think I traveled to 200 places a year. I did this for many, many years, traveling all over Japan, visiting so many places that there was no place in Japan that I did not know, drinking with clients, and at the age of 38, my face was swollen and I even developed gout.

Then he became president of Sony Digital Entertainment, and he decided he couldn’t go on like this! I started going to the gym with a personal trainer. It was exactly 10 years ago that I started going regularly. The personal trainer, Mr. T., has not changed at all. He explained the function of muscles very logically and guided me not to take protein because of my age. He only uses the force of nature to build muscle mass.

So my progress is slower than most people. Today, after 10 years, I finally managed to lift a dumbbell equal to my body weight. Whew, that took a long time.

For the less than two hours I’m at the gym, I don’t have my phone and I concentrate. During the workout, I think about work, life, what I’m going to eat tomorrow, and many other things. And then, one day, I concentrate so hard that those thoughts disappear. It’s painful, but fun.

For me, the gym is not only a physical workout, but definitely a mental workout. No matter how jet-lagged, hungover, or mentally damaged I am, I will crawl to the gym. I feel my mind getting stronger as I move my body. It gives me the courage to face it and not give up. Life really doesn’t go the way you want it to, but as long as your mind is strong, you can get through it.
I’m not a gymnast at all, but I’m chanting “I can do it, I can do it, I can do it” over and over in my head. w
This “I can do it, I can do it, I can do it” seems to propagate to others. When I’m with Fukuda, I feel like I can do it! I am often told.

I thank this exercise for always being able to uptate to the best version of myself.
Love your life!
