Speedy NEWS

Speedy Group acquired 100% of the shares of the long-established publishing house “Koryosha Shoten”.

The need for reading is growing with the Corona Disaster.
Last year, we launched the Speedy Books label in the Amazon economy, but we decided to acquire it to see if we could DX the book market, even though it seems to be going against the times in Japan, where real books and bookstores are still the main market rather than Kindle.
Japanese bookstores do not buy books and are free to return books under the book consignment system. Therefore, the book selection process is not as easy as it used to be. In the U.S., books are purchased, so connoisseurs are needed. Because of this, sales commissions are higher than in Japan. Again, the risk taker determines the success or failure of the business.
Distribution is also complicated, making it difficult for publishers to get a real-time grasp of sales in stores. Sometimes books ordered by bookstores are not unpacked.
We need to create super logistics (Yodobashi Camera’s commerce is a good example) that utilizes blockchain to manage the distribution of books without waste and deliver them quickly to the customers who need them.
Book knowledge is primary information that cannot be found in a Google search. We want to bring unique expression to the world, irrespective of the author’s fame, obscurity, number of SNS followers, etc.!
Speedy Group acquired 100% of the shares of the long-established publishing house “Koryosha Shoten”.
(Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Atsushi Nunokawa) have acquired 100% of the outstanding shares of Koryosha Shoten, a book publishing company, and on March 22, 2021, the company will become a subsidiary of Speedy Inc. We are pleased to announce that we have completed the acquisition of the following shares.
Koryosha Bookstore is a 73-year-old publishing company founded in 1948.
The company has produced numerous hit publications, mainly educational and technical books. In recent years, the company has also focused on the creation of picture books, such as the “1st Person Fairy Tale Series” that won the 2018 Good Design Award Gold Prize for its representative work, “Momotaro Tells Momotaro” (illustrations by Yuta Okamura, text by Yuji Kuge), and is actively taking on the challenges of new fields.
