Memory from the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa (About art-ZINE)
I went to see the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa’s “MICHAËL BORREMANS MARK MANDERS: Double Silence” exhibition. Mark Mander’s sculptures were overwhelming.
It feels like just yesterday, I made a stage appearance 9 years ago at the 2011 symposium “ZINE no Miraikei FANZINE・ZINE・art-ZINE”.
After, this symposium was made into a book by 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa’s curator, Ritsuko Takahashi. The history of the world’s art-Zine is spelled out in this valuable document. It was a movement that began from both extremes of Europe’s art context and America’s west coast street culture

And, I was called to this symposium, because I made the 6 art-Zine books. The ZINE was made using a silk screen one by one conscientiously at a workshop in Azumino. All include serial numbers and limited from 500 to 1,000 copies. I preferred the European art over the west coast ZINE by Xerox (copy machine maker).
If you want to understand the simple history, I’ve gathered articles below.
