Comments from the Judges:
Sion Sono — Film Director & Screenwriter
VR is the future of visual expression. And that’s why I would like to open new doors, going beyond the title of Film Director. There is surely something on this path that is worth pursuing, and that’s why I accepted this opportunity to be a part of the jury.
There’s a limitless “freedom” when traveling inside one’s mind that goes beyond the “limited” physical body.
And since these are the experiences that no one has had before, it makes me look forward to the evolution of VR.
Ellie Omiya — Writer & Painter
What are the kinds of films that people want to leave behind, and what are the messages that they want to send out as our era heads towards a worldwide transformation? I’m very much interested in these things. I’m eagerly looking forward to the experience.
Atsushi Fukuda — CEO & Brand Consultant of Speedy, Inc.
The telephone, invented by Graham Bell, was an augmentation of the human ear. And our field of vision was augmented thanks to the invention of the television. Although the inventions of the airplane and automobiles have allowed us to travel instantly from one place to another, they have robbed us of the experience of the sceneries along the way by minimizing them. VR is not the latest technology in video. VR is a new media that augments our experiences.
