Planning and production: Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture Arts Council Tokyo
Arts Council Tokyo has released an “interview movie” on its official YouTube channel. Artists from various fields speak about their experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, the future of art and culture, their current states of mind, and more.
COVID-19 forced various restrictions on the Tokyo and global art scenes. That wave continues to have a tremendous effect on various genres of art and culture including contemporary art, dance, theater, film, music, and the traditional performing arts. Why do we need art and culture today? How should we recover and develop the traditions and customs that we have cultivated?
Arts Council Tokyo planned and produced this interview movie in the hopes of widely considering this theme through the voices of artists who hold different thoughts and face different challenges. The narrator is Yukari Onoe of Traditional Japanese Dance Onoe-Ryu.
