Speedy Resorts : A resort concept that becomes one with the wind

I believe that house building (resort development) is about turning the cityscape into art.

I was reminded of a talk given by Mr. Seijun Nishibatake to architects at a previous “Monology Study Group” led by Mr. Masayuki Kurokawa.

When you build a building, do you design it based on the nature of its location? Or is there an architectural design?”

This is an exciting question. Buildings and nature are inseparable. The history of mankind has been a struggle with nature, and progress has been based on how to control nature. There is no such thing as architectural design that ignores nature. On the other hand, if we only try to live in harmony with nature, we will not be able to live a human life at all.

I dislike the term “symbiosis with nature. The act of building is a testament to human civilization, and in a sense, it is an anti-natural (not non-natural) act. I think it is important to what extent we can incorporate nature to improve our civilized way of life.

Now, let’s talk about Speedy Resort in Okinawa. Here in Okinawa, Hyakumei Beach faces the Pacific Ocean, and typhoons hit without mercy. 3 years ago, we recorded wind speeds of 68 mph. Three years ago we recorded winds of 68 mph, and in the past year we have experienced a certain amount of storms, even if they were not that big. The fear of typhoons seems to be not only the wind but also the pressure. It is the wind that blows off the roof of a new house or overturns a car. But what is more frightening is when the wind pressure pulls out the window glass and the house itself catches all the air and the house The worst case scenario would be for the whole thing to be blown away.

Speedy Resort protects all windows from pressure with a special net called Hurricane Fabric.

In addition, the exterior was changed to a rounded design with plaster finish as much as possible to allow the wind to flow Change it so that it is A beautiful plaster finish would be more in keeping with the town than special tiles that are durable and will not stain. It was decided to use a lot of plastering on the interior as well.

The house should not consist only of a house, but should be a part of the landscape.
