Soon nine years after the nuclear accident, some farmers continue to fight against Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) in court. He is Hiroyuki Suzuki, a sixth-generation rice farmer in Otama Village, Fukushima Prefecture. He is not seeking monetary compensation, but only the removal of radioactive materials from his rice paddies. For the past four years, no radioactive materials exceeding the standard values have been detected in the rice produced in Fukushima, and even now he is sometimes met with cold eyes when he complains of “contamination of the soil.
